The undersecretary of the Sudanese Foreign Ministry, Dr. Mutrif Sadig, has expressed his worries about the flow of refugees from Eritrea and Ethiopia because of the instability of the political situation these countries.

During his meeting with the representative of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, Ariel John, Mutrif noted that the influx of refugees has become uncontrollable.

He asked the UNHCR to play its role in developing programs which could contribute in returning those refugees to their country or to contribute in programs that would support their stay in Sudan. He added that Sudan does not oppose to host refugees from neighboring countries adherent to the international covenants.

Meanwhile, the representative of the UNHCR pledged to lift the Sudanese government's request to the Commissioner in Geneva, stressing the growing role played by the government in hosting refugees.
