LIBYA - Eritrean Refugee In Libya at hight risk of Deportation

Eritrean Community for Human Right and Refugee Protection has recently learnt from Eritrean Foreign Minister Mr. Osman Salih's Speech to Eritrean Resident in New York Yesterday that they have reached an agreement with Libyan authorities to deport about detained 400 Eritrean refugees, including 12 women and 19 children between the ages of two and six.

The Minster said that they are awaiting flight arrangement with Libyan authorities. He further stated that they fail to do the same deal with the Egyptian Government. Thus, EC-HRRP feared that the refugees may be forcibly returned to Eritrea, where they are at risk of torture or other ill-treatment.

We call upon all Eritreans to call appropriate authorities not to forcibly return any Eritrean nationals to Eritrea, where they would be at risk of torture, as well as indefinite detention without charge or trial.
