Announcement of the Establishment of
The United Eritrean National Front
(ENUF)

Former members of: The Eritrean National Salvation Front, the Eritrean Democratic Party (now known as: The Eritrean Progressive Party), and Eritrean Peoples Party held a convention between the 8th and the 10th of Feb. 2008 in Washington DC in which we announced the establishment of the Eritrean National United Front (ENUF).This convention came as a result of numerous intensive meetings and lengthy dialogues.

The attendees fully discussed the political, economic and social conditions in Eritrea. We confirmed that the main reason for the peoples’ suffering stemmed originally from the use of oppressive chauvinistic policies of the illegitimate gang of “PFDJ”.  We asserted that the unity of the Eritrean people and the protection of its national sovereignty come in the forefront of issues that the “ENUF” shall strive for and maintain.

The convention issued the following Recommendations:

With Regard to the “PFDJ” Gang

  1. We confirmed our principled belief that “PFDJ” is a corrupt, terrorist, chauvinistic dictator entity;
  2. We declared our deep conviction that the removal of “PFDJ” gang could only be by using force.

Securing National Unity & Guaranteeing its Stability
.

    1. We declared our deep conviction that Arabic & Tigrinya Languages are the two national & official languages of Eritrea.
    2. We confirmed our deep conviction that land in Eritrea belongs to its original owners.
    3. We asserted our deep conviction that religion is a legitimate right to each member of the Eritrean society. The government shall have no right to interfere in the religious affairs.
    4. We confirmed our deep conviction that Eritrea should be run by a democratic system in accordance with a constitution fully approved by the people.

With Regard to the Eritrean Opposition

.

We the attendees asserted our deep conviction that the Eritrean opposition lacks a strategy with a clear vision to be followed as a successful means to remove “PFDJ” gang from ruling the country. We believe that these leaderships are not willing to sacrifices or pay the highest price for the cause. They are holding on superficial pretexts not to give priorities to the demands of the Eritrean people. We strongly believe that the leaders of the Eritrean oppositions failed again and again & they are not ready to remove “PFDJ” gang.

.

We the members of the (ENUF) expressed our readiness to negotiate and conduct dialogue with all Eritrean opposition parties, organizations & individuals that do agree with our objectives, without any preconditions.

.

Foreign Relations

.

We’ll strongly work for building relations with Ethiopia based on mutual interests for the two peoples according to a clear strategy. We also believe in having good relations with our neighbors & with the international communities on the basis of mutual respect & joint interests of the whole world.

.

Border Issues between Eritrea & Ethiopia

.

We strongly believe that “PFDJ” should be held responsible for the devastating losses in lives of both Eritrea & Ethiopia, as a result of the border fighting. We also believe that the evil dictator of PFDJ is the one who ignited the fuse of a devastating war not in defense of the Eritrean national sovereignty as he claims. Rather, it was due to his disdainful egoism. We also believe that all border conflicts could be solved at any time in peaceful negotiations.

.

With Regard to the Eritrean Refuges

.

We’ll stand steadfast for solving the problems faced by Eritrean refugees abroad. On one hand, we show our appreciation to the humanitarian positive steps taken by the government of Ethiopia regarding the Eritrean refugees in Ethiopia. On the other hand we condemn the inhumane stance taken by the governments of Egypt, Sudan, Libya, & Yemen   in deporting the Eritrean refugees from their countries and handing them over forcefully to the evil “PFDJ” gangs. In this regard the ENUF designated an envoy to discuss these issues with the embassies of Sudan, Egypt, Yemen & Libya in Washington DC.

.

At the end of the convention, an interim leadership was elected. Among the members, the following names were chosen:

  1. Rezene Habte, Chairman
  2. Mohamed Nour Digoul, Vice Chairman & in charge of foreign relations
  3. Mesfene Tehaye,in charge of media & mobilization.

The first Congress for the ENUF was decided to be held within a year from the closing of this convention.

.

Down & Defeat be to the PFDJ Gang
Glory be to our martyrs
Justice to the Eritrean people

.
