Following critical disputes over distribution of living and agricultural plots of land in the city of Halhal; the Eritrean security organ has arrested a large number of ?leading popular personalities in Halhal. Sources estimated the number of the arrested people by 35 men and two women. The sources said that the women were released ?later. ?

Well informed sources told the Eritrean Center for Media Services (ECMS) that the ?Eritrean security authorities have took the men in 27 of last November to unidentified ?place. The sources added that the arrested people were opposing the distribution of ?land plots to people who are not residents of the area, considering that as trespass ?against others' rights. ?

It is worthy mentioned that the Eritrean authorities had launched similar campaign in ?the Southern Region in 24 of last November and arrested a number of citizens ?including women. ?
