Emanuel Asrat was editor-in-chief of the newspaper Zemen and an ex-service men.
Dawit Habtemichael, Meqaleh

Dawit Habtemichael was assistant editor-in-chief of the newspaper Meqaleh and physical professor.
Dawit Isaac, Setit
Imprisoned: in the days following September 18, 2001
Isaac has Swedish as well as Eritrean citizenship. Efforts by the Swedish government to get him released have been to no avail, while Swedish officials and diplomats have not been allowed to visit him in prison, according to CPJ sources.

Fesshaye "Joshua" Yohannes, Setit
(died in a secret prison in January 2007)

"Joshua" Yohannes, the co-editor and co-founder of a weekly newspaper Setit, which had at one time the largest circulation of any newspaper in Eritrea, died in a secret prison in January 2007 as a result of severe ill-treatment and denial of medical care.
Ghebrehiwet Keleta, Tsigenay

Keleta was a reporter for the private weekly Tsigenay, was kidnapped by security agents on his way to work sometime in July 2000 and has not been seen since.

Said Abdulkader, editor-in-chief of the newspaper Admas and proprietor of a press printing, was arrested on 20 September 2001.

Seyoum Tsehaye, freelancer and ancient photographer of the EDPLF, was arrested in the street on 21 September 2001.He was the director of the state-owned TV station.

Yusuf Mohamed Ali, editor-in-chief of the newspaper Tsigenay and granted of business, was arrested in his office on 19 September 2001.

Eyob Kessete: a journalist with the public radio, Dimtsi Hafash
Imprisoned: June 2007.
Eyob was arrested by border guards while attempting to cross into Ethiopia. He is said to be a prisoner in May -Srwa, near Asmara.
Fetiha Khaled: Arabic-language service presenter at Eri-Tv
Imprisoned: November 2006
Fetiha has been transferred to a military camp near the Sudanese border following her arrest earlier this year. She was among nine journalists arrested last November on suspicion of staying in contact with colleagues who have fled the country, or of planning to leave Eritrea themselves.

Johny Hisabu: editor with state-owned Eri-TV
Imprisoned: May 2007
Johny, who attempted to flee his country's regime, has gone missing since trying to slip over the dangerous border to Ethiopia in May. He was arrested when border guards intercepted the group of refugees he was traveling with, and that he has since been held at a detention center in the southwestern town of Barentu.

Paulos Kidane: journalist at the public television Eri-TV
Killed, June 2007
RSF said last month that Paulos Kidane, died while trying to trek over the border to Sudan. Kidane was one of nine public media journalists arrested in November 2006, after several prominent state media journalists defected.
