A total of 365 Eritrean
Refugees arrive at Shegrab Refugee Camp

In one week
(12/27/08-01/02/09), 365 Eritreans arrived at Shegrab refugee camp, the
majority of them being men and women over 18 years of age. Among the new
arrivals are children and young adults. The following is a table showing
the new arrivals by age and gender.

Over the
last six months, the number of Eritrean refugees entering Sudan has been
growing. Eritrean People’s Party source say, since the beginning of
December 2008, the number of new arrivals to Shegrab refugee camp
totaled 1206. Owing to the escalation of repression and human rights
violation in Eritrea, the rate of new arrivals is expected to increase
in 2009.
